I wanted to share with you my early morning experince and a bit of local lore.

About five miles or so from where I grew up there is a long lonely gravel road that has a tunnel at the end of it. It didn't use to dead end...there used to be a road that went through the tunnel and came out on the other side and continued for a few miles and hooked up to another road....but now it is no longer passable...there is an old train track that passes over the top but no trains run through that wilderness anymore either.

We used to go to the tunnel a lot when I was younger and there are tons of tales about the ghostly hauntings, demonic rituals and other goings on that are told to have taken place there....there was even a show that did a paranormal investigation of the site with recordings and such...

With our ghost hunts we keep meaning to go there but honestly....it is very freaky at night...and we definately wanted to check it out by daylight because it has been many years since I've travelled that road...We are going ghost hunting on Friday the 13th so we decided a daylight run would be wise...in case we venture that direction...

At about 8:30 am this morning my niece and I traveled down tunnel road...if you can call it a road...there is one house on the road about a mile up from the tunnel itself....but the road is barely a path with some gravel slung on it...it dead ends at the tunnel and there is a creek....that runs along to the right...immediately prior to getting to the tunnel. There rocks are much larger closer to the tunnel and you cross two low water bridges before getting to the tunnel. You have to stop about two hundred yards before the tunnel. I insisted we turn the vehicle around BEFORE exiting and walking up to the tunnel. The woods this time of year, bare and stark against the sky are spooky by themselves.

We walked up to the tunnel entrance, we paused and talked briefly. As soon as we stepped foot inside the tunnel a low roar like sound started....at first I thought it was the sound of tires on gravel and I kept waiting for a car or truck to appear, on one side or the other of the tunnel...but after ten minutes...nothing...the sound stopped as we walked further into the tunnel but there were some metallic tinging like sounds... the tunnel has some water inside it so our feet were getting wet. There is lots of writing inside the tunnel and we paused to take pics of some of it...The sound I am describing sort of sounded like a train in the distance but it was not faint it was very easy to hear and obvious.

At the middle of the tunnel....my niece wanted to turn around but I wanted to walk completely through and see what the road looked like on the opposite end...and so we did...It was daylight but of course dim and dark in the tunnel but not black. When we reached the other end of the tunnel about twenty feet from the exit at that end...my camera stopped working. I thought nothing of it at the moment and we walked outside the tunnel. The battery was flashing completely dead...so I turned it off a bit and we waited because I wanted photos of that end. Sometimes that allows the battery to rest a bit and you can get a shot or two...so after doing that a couple times we wnet back into the tunnel...and walked a little faster to get to the side where our car was parked. At the end, I wanted to take her pic and take some of me...again waiting inbewteen shots and letting the battery rest etc...when she took the first one of me...there was a metal tinging sound and as we looked down the tunnel...something was blowing at the other end...flat...not like a can but if it was a leaf...where was the tinging sound coming from? After that picture my neice was saying how in the camera it looked like a fog or a dark shape at the distant end...but when looking with the naked eye it was hard to make out anything.  The roar like sound started again and lasted for about five minutes or so as we were talking and taking pics...

We headed to the car and traveled about ahalf mile up the road....I turned my camera on to take a shot of something interesting in the woods....and the battery was completely charged full again...no flashing light and I esperienced no problems taking additional photos with it. Hmmm

Cell phone reception...thats one thing...I didn't expect to have that...but the camera battery??? Is there any natural phenomenum that might cause that?  I'm going to post pics and more details on one of my blogs....

I've never been ghost hunting before, but I've read about a lot of people getting 'battery drain' or their batteries mysteriously dying.  Smiley

I loved reading your thread... I have a fascination with this topic - hopefully will get to go hunting at some point!

How did your Friday the 13th hunt go?

Friday the 13th Hunt was sort of low energy although a couple oddities...at one cemetery.....where we have hunted before and photographed a lot of orbs at midnight...at that cemetery...we had a car door that was fully open....and no wind or incline...SLAM shut....and I do mean slam...it actually rocked the car...a few of us were out in the cemetery but a couple people stayed with the car...they got a little spooked and insisted we return to the car and leave.

The other oddities involve two pictures at two different "haunted" houses...both are deserted and in the middle of no where. In one of the upper windows we kept thinking we saw a shadow of a woman...and when looking at the photos later it seems very much like a dark haried lady with a white blouse on....In the other one....in the woods by the other house...we used a spotlight and took some photos....and very clearly you can see a man in a top hat peering around a tree...very odd...most people who see the photo can pick it out very clearly...I'm working on enlarging the photo for better view...There was one other taken,.....we don;t remember where but somewhere near the old bluff road...we think...it is all blackness...except for one lighted area which upon closer view looks very much life a mans head...
