I love the Celtic Cross, a three card spread with no particular meanings set to the positions, I like variations on it and use the numerological meaning of the cards added up, and elemental meanings. I love the horse shoe, use a 5 cad and a 7 card horse shoe that I like real well.
But, for this post I am going to list one of my fav's that works really well for me when doing relationship readings. This spread works really well because it not only shows me what both partners are feeling, or how they see the relationship, the issues involved, the heart of the matter, and give' me a time line of how the relationship will work out of up to two years. This one hasn't failed me yet, and I love it, it's my first go to spread with relationships.
RELATIONSHIP SPREAD:
I use a spread called the relationship spread that works really well for me and has been really accurate to this point, it is a 7 card spread and this is the layout and the meanings of the positions:
.......5 ...4.....6 .3.........7 .....1..2
position #'s 1. The quarent: (questioner, this would be you or the person you are doing the reading for.) This shows the quarent and how he or she feels about the relationship and how he or she stands in relation to his or her partner.
2. The partner: This is the significator for the person whom the question is being asked. This shows how he or she feels about the relationship or their attitude to the quarent.
3. Current situation: This shows the nature of the relationship in it's present form. If there are problems in the relationship this cad will sum up the key issues and current mood.
4. Issues arising: This card shows the immediate future of the relationship, where it is heading, and the nature of any important issues between the two people.
5. Heart of the matter: This card show the pinning together of the reading. A positive card indicates that the relationship is heading in the right direction even if there are difficulties that need to be worked out.
6. Short term future: I assign this card from 6-12 months. A positive card shows that the relationship is heading in the right direction. A difficult card shows future problems looming. However, it would only show the relationship ending, or show that a new love interest in a non-starter if the final card is also negative.
7. Long term future: I assign this card to the following year. A difficult card does not show well for the future, as it indicates that the relationship will be a struggle or that it will not stand the test of time. A positive card promises a happy outcome. Even if the rest of the spread show difficulties, this can indicate that the relationship is worth working at.
